Anxious about getting started? I remember the feeling. I think this quote applies to anyone having trouble “starting” anything — whether it’s an application to b-school, getting on stage for the first time, proposing a radical new idea at …work, or launching your own start-up…:
“START WITH A BIG LUMP IN YOUR THROAT. Start with a profound sense of wrong, a deep homesickness, a crazy lovesickness, and run with it.
If you imagine less, less is what you deserve.”
You might be anxious about applying — after all, applying might = rejection. What if I don’t get in? What if I DO get in but then don’t get the job I’m dreaming of? What if I DO get in, get the “dream job”, but then realize that I hate it?
WELL SURE, BUT SO WHAT. A guaranteed way to *not* get in is to *not apply at all*.
So START with that lump in your throat…AND RUN WITH IT.
Tell your fear: “Sorry buddy; I’ve got better things to do than to listen to you today.”
